the batmobile

Here’s a car to end all cartoon cars: the Batmobile. The Batmobile is probably the hippest cartoon car in existence. Come to think about it though: cars are really not that prevalent in cartoons. And if a character has a car, it would just be your usual car caricature. Here’s my 5 cents worth on why:
1. Animal cartoon characters rarely need a car. In the twisted world of cartoons, they can just appear on the scene instantly or run faster than bullets.
2. Superheroes can usually fly or they have fantastical robots to fly them. Superheroes who couldn’t fly can run fast.
3. Cars are hard to draw and what’s the point in drawing them anyway.
Batman though is an exception. This is because unlike most superheroes, he doesn’t have any super powers. So he relies on martial arts, detective skills, and of course gadgets like the Batmobile. In Batman, the Animated Series, the Batmobile is limo-like in construction, with an extended front and generous Gothic lines. The Batmobile itself is fitted with gadgets like tear gas dispensers, wheel slashers, and missile rack.
